Network Media

CAT 5 : Speeds 10/100 Mbps. Length 100 meters. Bandwidth 100 MHz.

CAT5 cables is the fifth generation of twisted-pair Ethernet technology 100Base-T and, since its inception in the 1999 It became the industry standard until the release of CAT6.

CAT 5e : Speeds 10/100/1000 Mbps. Length 50 meters. Bandwidth 100 MHz.

CAT5e also know as enhanced CAT5 . It features 1Gb at 50 meters and less cross-talk than CAT5. It can operate 100 Mbps at 100 meters

CAT 6 : Speeds 10/100/1000 Mbps. Length 100 meters. Bandwidth 250 MHz.

CAT6 was released in 2002 and was built for networks 1000Base-T.  It also includes more stringent specifications for cross-talk and system noise and can reach speeds of 10 Gbps at 55 meters.

CAT 6a : Speeds 10/100/1000/10,000 Mbps. Length 100 meters. Bandwidth 500 MHz.

CAT6a cables is was built for 10Gbase-T networks 802.11an.  Since the 10G platform is currently the fastest Ethernet standard, most applications include networks that require massive data packets at great speeds.

Coaxial : Speeds up to 1000 Mbps. Length 30 miles. Bandwidth 6 MHz per Channel

DOCSIS – Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification.  DOCSIS 3.0 can reach speeds over 150 Mbps by channel bonding.

Single Mode Fiber Optics : Speeds 1000 Mbps. Length 5,000 meters.

Single mode fiber is designed for long-range transmissions. While it can be used short-range, single mode is more commonly used to run lines between facilities.

Multi Mode Fiber Optics : Speeds 100,000 Mbps. Length 150 meters.

Faster than single mode, it also has a shorter maximum distance. Multimode can still run for hundreds of meters at 100 Gbps and is offered in OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4.
